A Time to Remember Logo

Easter is a holiday that we are all familiar with, but do we celebrate it for the right reasons?
Have you ever stopped and noticed that this holiday seems to over shadow God and his Son Jesus Christ! The holiday seems to be more about candy, egg hunts and getting your picture

taken with the Easter Bunny. Rather than thanking God’s Son for the sacrifice He made. Do we put too much emphasizes on the Easter bunny that we forget what Christ did for us! When watching TV and going to the grocery store I noticed that this holiday is geared for one thing, and yes you guessed it, the Easter Bunny! It’s sad to say this but commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ seems to be an after thought in this modern day. In my mind I can’t stop thinking, what happened to Christ?
We have so much to be thankful for and we need to remember why. Jesus Christ did something very wonderful for us a long time ago and still does today. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and raised by Joseph and Marry (Christ mother) in a town called Bethlehem. Christ started His Ministry around the age of thirty and continued His ministry here on earth for three years. At the age of thirty-three Christ allowed Himself to be taken by the solders in the middle of the night. The chief priests and elders and all the council, they found false witnesses that claimed that Jesus said “I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days. Jesus held his peace. The high priest was looking for an excuse to discredit Jesus. He did not believe Jesus was the Son of God.      They deemed Him as a troublemaker and wanted to put a stop to His ministry. He was then beaten, spit on, and mocked. Jesus was then brought before the governor Pontius Pilate but he found no fault with Christ, He has not committed any crimes. Now if you consider feeding five thousand, healing and loving people a crime then He was guilty as charged. Pilate washed his hands of this matter and left it up to the people what was to become of Christ. The chief priests and elders wanted to destroy Jesus so they persuaded the multitude to carry out this plan to crucify Christ. They led Him up to a hill called Cavalry. It was there where the soldiers drove nails into his feet and hands. Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross that He created. After Christ died He was taken and placed in a tomb and the entrance was sealed with a large stone. But the story does not end there that’s just the beginning. Three days later the stone that was in front of the tomb rolled away, Jesus Christ conquered sin and praise God He lives again. Christ ascended to heaven to be with his heavenly Father, which is our Father too. It amazes me greatly how much of an impact Jesus Christ made in just three years. Imagine if He had five! There will never be anyone more perfect than Jesus Christ. This is a time to remember what  Jesus did for all of us. Christ loved us so much that He sacrificed His own life to save us from our sins. Rather than putting so much emphasizes on the Easter bunny and the egg hunts, we should take more time to thank God for sending us a wonderful savor.
I know we all know this story. I just think it’s good to have a reminder every once in awhile.
