On the road again, heading to a sweet church of people in Georgia. I will get to see some friends we got to meet last year and hopefully meet some new friends. We will unload, pray, play, and hope people liked the concert. As an artist, you want people to like you. You are in a way at the mercy of your audience.
As someone in any job or any event you are going to, you feel the same way. You want people to like you. I would even go to say that it is one of the #1 goals of most people in America. . As Christians, with the right intenions of trying to be good, we get caught in the never ending people pleasing cycle. Some of us feel that if everyone likes us, then we are on the right path.. There is one thing though, I look at the Gospels and see that Jesus and His diciples were not necessarily liked by everyone. Jesus was perfect to people, and was still persecuted and even put to death. Jesus was so focused on His purpose.
He didn't have time to see or care who approved or disapproved. He didn't sway His morals or His decisions by who liked Him or who gave Him support. What would have happened if Jesus would have based His decisions on what the majority thought of Him when the Pharisees were telling Him not to heal people and telling Him not to save people.
Why are we so backwards sometimes in thinking that EVERYONE is going to like us, when God's Word says exactly the opposite?? Like Jesus, we should love those who don't like us, but not let them discourage the plan God has for our lives.
