trying to find a denomination that fits our own lifestyle or thought.  We have no excuse for replacing our thought with God’s commandments.
There are Bible verses that guide us and caution us about forming our own concluseions.  One such verse is: 2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
If you study God’s Word, you will not only know the truth but be held accountable for it.  The stark reality of Scripture is that every person, Christian and non-Christian, is accountable before a sovereign God (see Rom. 3:9-19) and will one day have to bow before Christ (Phil. 2:9-11). Jesus said, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked” (Luke 12:48b). Many reject this declaration of Scripture by all manner of human rationalizations and bias, but their rejection cannot alter the reality of accountability.
Once we know The Truth, we must honor that truth by acting upon it.  Salvation is more than just being forgiven of you’re sins.  You MUST work out the details between you, God, and what He has taught you.  Your salvation is not dependent upon your denominational beliefs or words you might have been let to say.
Philippians 2:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
To honor God, you must form a  relationship with Him.  A relationship that involves honor and trust.
If you think someone is telling you something that does not fit with the Biblical essence  of God, then it is not God.   they tell you something contrary to what God’s Word has said or that is not in your well-being, then, you are not bound to honor such a commandment.  There are many occasions where parents have led their children astray.  There are even occasions where parents have not allowed their child to make there own decisions about things, including religious beliefs.  .  Especially when their child is an adult.  If the parent has taught their child properly, that child will make decisions upon what God has shown them.
It is the Childs right and responsibility to follow the teachings of God, not a  denomination.   If you have indeed studied God’s word, you have the knowledge to make your own decisions.  Someone else does not know what God has shown you.  If God’s Word leads you,  He is never wrong.
When you think of honor, remember that we only must honor what is right.  You are not bound to honor things or people if they do not line up with God’s Word, God’s will or what God has shown you. |
