Caves in the Bible
There is three caves mentioned in the Bible. The cave of Machpelah (also called the Cave of the Patriarchs) located in the old city of Hebron. it is believed to burial site of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob and Leah. The cave of Makkedah where the five kings who had confederated against Israel sought refuge and was later put to death by Joshua. The cave of Adullam which was near the town of Adullam, in which David, already anointed to succeed Saul as king, sought refuge from the latter. |
