One difference between a good Christian and the world is that when we fail, we serve a God who forgives us and allows us to rise up from that failure and to serve Him. Saul was a prime example of one who failed miserably and yet continued to be perhaps the greatest disciples of Jesus.
Remember, there is nothing wrong with failure if it helps make you better. I am reminded of this saying: “those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it”. If we repeat the same mistakes over and over, perhaps we should spend more time in prayer and “wait upon the Lord”. We must follow Jesus. We cannot anticipate Him or know what the final results may be. We just follow, knowing that “all things work together for good to them who love God”.
The Devil and the world WILL get you down. It will depress you. You do not need anti-depressants, you have God. That’s another thing a Christian has that the world does not have. God’s people do not need a pill. They have the Holy Spirit. They have the Bible. In whom do you trust?
Do not be discouraged. Jesus said “I have overcome the world”. The battle’s already won. Other scriptures tell us not to worry. Luke 12:22 is but one verse that tells us not to worry. Have faith in God. Trust in God. There is nothing to worry about unless you fail to have faith and trust in Him.
I’m sure you have heard all of these things before. We have heard, but we do not DO! Be doers of the Word. The reason I am repeating what you may have already heard is due to the statistics that depression is just about the greatest problem in America. It has also become a problem to the Christian.
I think that we could decrease depression and increase faith by being there for one another. We all need a shoulder to cry on or a helping hand. When another reaches up for help, will we be there to be that help?
Although I don’t agree with his religious beliefs, I agree with a statement made by Tom Cruise. He stated that we should find and cure the cause of depression, not mask it with chemicals. Every depression has a cause. The Devil wants us to be down so he finds things to hurt us with and these things cause depression.
We all hurt. Some hurts are harder to deal with, but we can deal with it. “This too shall pass”. I have been there. My mother died when I was 18, my son died at the age of 26. I was not popular in school. I have gone thru as much depression as most people have. But I have God. God is my strength. I do not need medication. I NEED GOD! |
