Did You Know?

The lions of the land of Israel were of the Asiatic variety, slightly smaller than the African variety.

Although not found in present day Israel, in ancient times the lion is known to have inhabited not only Syria and Israel but also Asia Minor and the Balkan peninsula.

The are numerous references to lions in The Bible, particularly the Old Testament in which at least six different words are used for the lion.
