Nothing’s Final - Heartbreak & Joy Concluded |
Unfortunately, this man was so firmly gripped by the effects of alcohol, he was never able to completely kick the habit. He died not long after as a result of years of abuse--but he died a saved man! Spreading the gospel and seeing lives changed is worth more to me than recordings, contracts, charting, Song Writer of the Year Awards—as I am sure it is to any gospel song writer who is truly serving the Lord in ministry. I treasure each soul who has come to the altar as we sang songs I have written. I treasure each little note or e-mail that says, “I wanted to tell you how your song encouraged me....” I treasure each hand gripping my arm as a person leans closer and whispers, “That song was a blessing to me!” All of the rejections, heartaches and disappointments are nothing compared to seeing God use one of your songs to help change a person’s life eternally or to encourage one of His saints. It is a privilege to be called to write songs that worship and praise the Lord, that draw the lost to Christ and that encourage God’s people to live lives of obedience to Him. This is why I write gospel songs. This is why I will continue to write gospel songs for as long as the Lord calls me to do it. |
