|    I recall a song once recorded by Loretta Lynn.  The lyrics of its’ chorus was: “everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die”.  As interesting as these words may be, it seems they are accurate. Ask yourself: Do you want to go to Heaven?  Are you ready to die to get there?  There are only two ways we Christians may enter Heaven.  One it to be caught up by the rapture.  The other way is to die.  Either way, this life as we know it must end before we can enter Heaven.   This is also true if you are one of the unfortunate souls who do not know Jesus and go to Hell.  Either way, there are only two ways to enter eternity.
My question, and the purpose of this article is:  If you knew that Jesus was coming today, would you be a different person?  Are you ready?
What does “ready” mean.  To me, this would mean that my sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus.  I am saved.  Ready also means that I have lived my life, after my salvation, is one that shows love, forgiveness, obedience and following the commandments of God.
It is not enough to “give”.  It is not enough to “obey”.  It is enough when you have followed every direction given you by God.  Giving, obedience, and above all, love are necessary.   However; who do we love?  We must love more than just those we like.   Obedience means every thing God wishes you to do.  We cannot pick and choose.  Remember the rich young man who wanted to follow Jesus?  Jesus marvelled that this young man had kept the commandments.   This young man was good, honest and true.  Jesus said there was one thing the young man must do.  He was told to give up his posessions and then to follow Jesus.  The young man walked away.  He would not give ALL to Jesus.
ALL does not mean money, energy, giving, loving, etc.  ALL means ALL!  You cannot withhold anything.  Your money, your life, your family, your job, your health.  All includes this and more.
When Jesus does come, maybe today, He expects His church (We who are saved) to be without spot or blemish.  An obedient, faithful. giving, loving church.  If we fall short, we will be judged according to our works.   Yes!  There is a judgment even for those who enter Heaven.  I Peter 4:17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
Are you ready if Jesus came today?  Would you say “come quickly” or “wait a little longer”?  Hezekiah asked to “wait a little longer”.  He received 15 more years.  These years were the worst of his life, and for God’s people.
