In reality, the building is the “house of God” in which the church (the people of God) In reality, the building is the “house of God” in which the church (the people of God) meet. This is shown in First Timothy; 1TI 3:15 “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is The Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. In Mark, God said ”My house is a house of prayer”. It is also in the Bible that we are the temple (church) of God. This indeed says that if we are the temple, then we are “the church”. We are the building in which God lives. Jesus once said “A house divided cannot stand”. Jesus knew the importance of unity. Contrary to some opinion, unity will not come from the Ecumenical movement. Unity will only come from God. It is alright to have differences, it is not alright to let those differences cause strife. There have been wars fought, and many men killed because of differences by “the church” or those members who make up “The Church”. Satan also had a difference of opinion with God. He even got other angels to agree with him. You might even say that Satan and the fallen angels started their own congregation. Look where they ended up. Please forgive this extreme example. I am not attempting to compare the churches of today with Satan. I am only trying to give example of what happens when we have division with God’s plan. I refer once more to Jesus’ words: “A house divided cannot stand”. There will always be problems and divisions. We will end an un-ending discussion of the church by sharing an important address to the church. You will find that there were things Jesus was pleased with, and things he despised. Admit it or not, there is a little bit of each of us to be found in at least one of these examples in the address to the churches in the Book of The Revelation. (NOTE: The church is referred to by geography, not by building name, or denomination.)
