Inspiration From Behind The Lens Concluded

Have you ever thought about the things you see every day and how it affects you? For example you watch a tv show that talks about someone being shot but you don’t see the actual shooting. Next time you want to see the person being shot. Eventually you get bored seeing that and want to see a little more, then a little more, and a little more. Soon you see all the gory details from start to finish with nothing hidden. On the opposite end you say hello to customer you see every day at work. At first they don’t look you in the eye but just mumble a response. Soon with persistence they begin to look you in the eye, smile, great you back and even initiate the conversation. Before you know it both of you are good friends sharing stories about each other’s lives.
When Jesus spoke this part of the Sermon on the Mount He was talking about how our eye is the doorway into our soul. The things we see can affect us in ways that we can’t even imagine. Just like watching one horror movie. The first time we are squeamish and grossed out by what is on the screen. Next time we think I can handle this, “next we say is that all? I’ve seen worse”.  If we want our whole body to full of light we should fill it with what pleases God like reading the Bible, going to church, seeing a group of Christian singers.
I guess what I’m trying to say is be careful what you watch or do. You never know how it will affect your life or your relationship with Jesus.
