It is sad that the Supreme Court does not agree with men like Judge Moore of Alabama.
The Bible says to pray for those in government. It also says that God is the one who put them there. We may not understand that, but we are not to question God. So, we just pray for them.
There are lots of things wrong with our government. We are not likely to change these wrongs by talking about them. We must do something about them. Our votes are one way, but the old saying is: “A squeeky wheel gets greased”.
France has a saying: “The government should be afraid of the people”. Not the other way around. I’m not advocating a revolution, God forbid. I am saying that until we begin to let the government know that we are not pleased with their actions, we are not likely to see a change. We can express this in ways more that just our voting.
Call your congressman, your senator, everyone. One voice will not change anything. However, if the number of voices I see on Facebook and hear from in the streets were to take their message directly to the government instead of their “friend”. Maybe a change could be made.
If America is truly a “free” country, then we have the right, the duty and the responsibility to speak up. Groups not even related to Christianity have spoken up and created change. The reason these changes were made is probably because they became “squeeky wheels”.
Christians were never meant to be “The Silent Majority”. Christians are a force of God, for God. We must not be “silent”. We cannot be violent. We MUST stand up for God and our principles. According to The Bible (Revelation), there will come a time when Christians will be killed for taking a stand for God. I would rather die taking a stand than to live as a coward who will not stand up for God and His righteousness.
I stand with Joshua in this passage: Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
It is said that if you don’t stand for something you will fall for everything. If you can accept the wrongs committed by the current government structure, you might want to study history. Look at what this government used to be, even in my life time. We knew freedom. Look at things now. You cannot hire or fire someone without reason. (In a free country you don’t need a reason). You cannot refuse to rent to a non-Christian. (In a free country, it’s my property, I pay taxes, I can rent to whomever I choose). There are some legitimate reasons for these laws. However, these types of laws take away the rights of one, to give them to another. This IS NOT freedom.
Am I political? NO! Am I fanatic? NO! Am I radical? NO! Am I Christian? Absolutely, Positively, without a shadow of a doubt.
Groups say they are “coming out” and making a stand for what they believe and what they feel are their rights. As Christians, we must also “come out” and stand for our rights as Christians.
I do believe that other life styles, other religions, and other beliefs, or lack of them, are within the rights covered by the Constitution. We must allow them their beliefs. However, the Constitution did not say that I had to believe it, or condone it, or live with it.
Read Second Timothy. Lots of insight there. Study history. Lots of insight there. Those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat it.
