Inspiration From Behind The Lens Continued!

This wasn’t the end of their journey on the ark. God let it rain on the earth but as you keep reading in His word you will see the lived for a total of one year on the ark. Let’s look a little further in His word and we’ll see.

“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s live, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Genesis 7:11

So now we know how old Noah was when the flood started and when the flood began. Let’s start to look at the timeline of his time on the ark.

“And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every an: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.” Genesis 7:18-24

After reading this passage we see that the flood lasted 40 days and nights and after the rain stopped it tells us the water was on the earth 150 days. So now we are up to 190 days that Noah and his family were on the ark.

“And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, of the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.” Genesis 8:2-6

So looking at this passage we already know that they had lived in the ark for 6 months. That would be the second month to the seventh month. The ark rested on Ararat now. Still from the seventh month to the tenth month they were still in the ark. That is another 90 days, bringing us to 280 days on the ark. At the end of the tenth month Noah still waited 40 days for open the window in the ark. That brings us up to 320 days on the ark, or just a little over 11 months on the ark. What a long time to have lived there with all the animals. Now let’s look at the next passage.

“And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;” Genesis 8:8-10

Add that 7 days onto what we already have and our total is now 327.
