If I can keep running my parenting race, then you can, too, even if it’s uphill all the way. With our eyes on Jesus, we can do it—together.

Dena Yohe

Dena has been on a purpose-filled adventure with Christ for 45 years. She was Cru staff for 15 years (part of that time in Russia), a Pastor’s wife (15 years), and a social worker prior to that. She’s the mother of Renee Yohe the suicidal, addicted, depressed, self-harming girl whose situation led friends to start the well-known non-profit To Write Love on Her Arms. Renee’s life was also portrayed in the 2015 Sony Pictures movie by the same name.
Dena and her husband, Tom, began Hope for Hurting Parents out of their own painful experience. Her pain has become her passion.  Together, they come alongside moms and dads whose children are involved in destructive choices and behaviors. Their ministry offers encouragement, support, resources and hope on a difficult journey.
Currently, she leads parent support groups; conducts seminars and conferences for churches and non-profits; and writes for her blog (HopeforHurtingParents.com) and daily email subscription. Dena published You Are Not Alone: Hope for Hurting Parents of Troubled Kids in July of 2016, with WaterBrook Multnomah. She’s also the mom of three wonderful, grown children and enjoys being grandma Mimi. Reading, walking, garage sales, gardening, music and naps refresh her. And then there’s dark chocolate!
