Matthew 6:30
O ye of little faith? 31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Depression is likely to be the most common of mental illness.  It is also probably the least understood.  Many Christians also suffer from depression.  What do doctors say?  It’s chemical inbalance.  You need medication.  I won’t argue this point except to say that: “why don’t we address the cause”?
In most cases, depression has a cause, a beginning.  Perhaps it is love lost.  Perhaps it is the death of a loved one.  It may even be caused by the way you look at life.  In either case, you must change the way you look at life.
This world is depressing.  Just watch the news!  A lack of faith or lack of knowledge that our Savior, Jesus Christ taught us that faith is the key to everything.  Faith that God will supply our needs.  Faith that God will allow us to overcome all trials and temptations.  Faith that God is there with us, he never left!
Depression can be caused by not knowing what happens next.  A Christian operating in faith knows that regardless of what happens next;  God said “this too shall pass”.
Fear is another thing that can cause depression.  Afraid of the future; afraid of someone; or even afraid of our self and what we might do.  There is no place in a Christians’ life for fear.  Fear is a lack of faith.  A lack of faith shows that we do not trust God and His word.
Winston Churchill once said “there’s nothing to fear but fear itself”.  This was during WWII.  But as we know, The war is over.  God led the Right side to victory.
There will always be problems.  There will always be war.  THERE WILL ALWAYS BE GOD!
We know that the Bible tells us that Jesus will be back and take His people home.  There are people who are even afraid of that.  They are not ready for Jesus to come.  They want to live longer.  Some are afraid of Jesus’ return because they are not ready.  It is simple: those who know Christ know that we will live forever.  Those who do not know Christ have a way!  Jesus is the way!
Will we still fear?  Probably!  Will we still be depressed?  Probably!  Would we be better off having faith and trusting that God has a plan and will work all things together for our good, or should we turn to medication?  I CHOOSE faith in God.
I have Bi-Polar manic depression.  I do not take medication!  I have never experienced the classic symptoms of Bi-Polar.  In my opinion this is because I have faith in God.  I have had faith all my life.  My life hasn’t been great.  There have been deaths; trials; struggles and at times, even depression.  BUT GOD BROUGHT ME THROUGH!  I am not or will not advise anyone to quit medication or not listen to their doctor.  I am saying that for me, God has been my medication.
