Red Roots   -   Continued!

Have there been any problems, such as in school with you being Christian.  Has this caused any problems at all?
RED ROOTS: Oh Yeah!  We just have kind of subtle problems like at our school, it was sort of medium, like we didn’t live in a totally terrible school environment.  We went to a public school.  We had a lot of Christians around.  At the same time, we had like a certain, very few friends who actually didn’t go to parties.  A lot of our friends would go to parties and we couldn’t hang out with a lot of them because we didn’t want to be invited and every Friday night or so, they would go there and they’d kind of do stuff behind our backs when we were young.  It was just kind of hard to be around people when they would hang out with their friends on the weekend and they’d kind of leave you out because they were doing something that different than what we wanted to do.
JIM CRIGGER: Has it been difficult to resist, like a friend invites you to a place that they were doing something you couldn’t approve of.  Has that been a difficulty?
RED ROOTS:  Yeah, of course.  You want to please people at school.  You want to be cool.  Everybody wants to be cool.  Sometimes, supposedly cool comes up and says “come to this”.  We’ve really had each other through those times and it was like we always had that other person there.  We were never alone on Friday night or anything like that.  We were always really practicing.  Everybody would joke with us about football games ‘cause we didn’t go to any football games which that’s not a bad thing to do, but, we were always practicing our music and that’s really kept us out of trouble a lot.
JIM CRIGGER: There’s a lot of depression going on and I’m sure that a lot of the things you’d go through made you feel like an outsider or something created that.  What kind of advice would you give to people your age, and even younger that are still in school, in colleger or whatever and they have to fight the same things you have. Is there any advice on how to get through it?
RED ROOTS: I feel like that you just have to find the right friends.  Friends God gives, the Christian friends that you want to be like.  Also, get into a youth group and hold yourself accountable.  A youth group will help you be accountable too.  Just pray to God, read your Bible and it will keep you closer to God for sure.
Find something that is productive for Christ.  Like with us, our music kept us out of trouble.  Find something that you can do that will keep you busy.  Raise money for a mission field.  Raise money for another country or something.  Do something that will take up a lot of your time doing something for Christ and that will keep you out of a lot of trouble.
Pray about it, what you should be doing.
